What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a tooth that has a screw like root, it is placed into the jaw, and the gum and bone will grow around it in time and hold it in place.
The screw will have an artificial tooth attached that perfectly fits the hole left by your tooth.
The look, function and feel will be like your natural teeth over time as your bone and gum grow around the dental implant.
What is the dental implant procedure?
Once x-rays have been taken and a comprehensive examination taken, your dentist, will perform a minor operation to implant a screw into the jawline; once the bone and gum have grown around the screw, we will then fix an artificial tooth to your dental implant that is perfectly fitted to the area.
You won’t feel any pain during the procedure, but you might feel some discomfort, however, this is usually off-set with over-the-counter painkillers.
Whilst having dental implants isn’t an instant fix, it is a permanent solution to missing teeth, and one that will look and feel natural.
